Privacy Policy
The short version
- We collect only what Moedly needs to remember birthdays, anniversaries and other dates for you and your circles.
- We never sell your data, show you ads, or use your data to train AI models.
- Your data is stored in Germany. A few service providers we use are in the United States.
- You can export or delete your data from the app at any time.
1. Who we are
Moedly is run by an independent developer based in Israel ("we", "us"). We are responsible for your personal data under this policy. For any privacy question or request, email support@moedly.app.
This policy covers the Moedly mobile app and the moedly.app website.
2. What we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your email address and the name you enter in your profile.
- Sign in with Google or Apple: if you use either, we receive an account identifier and your email address from them. We don't receive your password. With Apple you can choose to share a private relay email instead of your real one.
- What you add to the app: circles, the people in them (names, nicknames, photos if you add them, and how they relate to you), dates such as birthdays and anniversaries (on the Gregorian or Hebrew calendar), and any notes you write.
- Invitations: if you invite someone by email, we store that email address to deliver the invitation.
- Settings: your language, time zone, appearance and reminder preferences.
- Messages to us: anything you send when you contact support.
Information collected automatically
- Notifications: if you allow notifications, a push notification token for your device and whether notifications are allowed.
- Security data: your IP address and device or browser type, recorded when you sign in and in security logs.
- Usage and error data: which screens you open, some actions you take, and error reports, together with your language, time zone and device type. This data is linked to a random account ID, not your name or email. We don't use it to find your location.
You don't have to give us any of this information. We do need your email address to create your account and sign you in. Without it we can't provide the service.
3. Information about other people
Moedly is about the people in your life, so you'll add details about others: their names, birthdays and other dates. Many of them won't use Moedly themselves.
- Only add information that you have a good reason to hold and that the person would be comfortable with. For example, most people are fine with close friends and family knowing their birthday.
- We use this information only to show it to you and to the members of the circles you share it with, and to send reminders to them. We don't contact these people, unless you ask us to send them an invitation.
- If you believe Moedly holds information about you that someone else added, email us and we will help you have it corrected or removed.
4. How we use your information
We use your information only for the following purposes. The "legal basis" column applies to users in the European Union and the United Kingdom.

We don't sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it with data brokers. We don't use it to train AI models. We don't make automated decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.
5. Who we share it with
Other members of your circles see the people, dates and details you share with those circles. Your profile name is visible to members of circles you belong to.
Service providers process data for us only to run Moedly, under agreements that require them to protect it:

When the law requires it: we may disclose information if we are legally required to, or to protect the safety of people or of the service. If Moedly is ever transferred to a new owner, your data would go with it under the same protections, and we would tell you first.
6. International transfers
We are based in Israel, and your data is stored in Germany. The European Commission recognizes that Israel provides adequate protection for personal data. Some providers listed above are in the United States. When data goes there, we rely on recognized safeguards, such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
7. How long we keep it
- Your account and content: for as long as you have an account.
- When you delete your account: we wait 30 days in case you change your mind (you can cancel in the app during that time). After that we delete your personal data. Some content you added to shared circles, such as a birthday other members rely on, may stay in that circle, but it is no longer linked to you. Our backups are kept for up to 30 days, so deleted data disappears from them within 30 more days.
- Sign-in codes: expire within minutes and are deleted within 7 days.
- Security logs: IP addresses and device details are removed after 90 days. Other security records are kept for up to 12 months.
- Records of privacy requests: we keep a record that we handled an export or deletion request, without its contents, so we can show we honored it.
- Data exports: an export you request is available for 7 days and then deleted.
- Usage and error data: kept for a limited period set in our analytics provider, then deleted.
8. Your rights
Wherever you live, you can:
- Access and export your data. Download a copy from the app: once you're signed in, go to Settings → Privacy → Account and data.
- Correct it. Edit your profile and content in the app, or ask us.
- Delete it. Delete your account from the same screen in the app, or ask us.
- Object to analytics, or ask us to restrict how we use your data.
- Withdraw permission for notifications at any time in your device settings.
For anything you can't do in the app, email support@moedly.app. We will reply within 30 days. We may need to confirm it's really you before acting on a request.
You can also complain to a data protection authority. In Israel that is the Privacy Protection Authority. In the EU or UK it is the authority in the country where you live. We'd appreciate the chance to help first.
9. Security
Data is encrypted in transit between the app and our servers. Our servers accept no direct connections from the internet, and backups are encrypted. Sign-in codes are stored only in scrambled (hashed) form. Access to production systems is limited and protected by two-factor authentication. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data, and we will tell you and the authorities about a breach when the law requires it.
10. Children
You must be at least 16 to create a Moedly account. Parents and guardians can add their children's birthdays and other dates to their own circles. If you believe a child under 16 has created an account, email us and we will delete it.
11. Cookies and device storage
This website doesn't use cookies or tracking. The app stores your sign-in session and settings on your device, and a random identifier for usage analytics.
12. Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our practices change, and change the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
